Mask Guide for Majora's Mask

To save you some trouble, visit the Notebook page to learn how to complete the Anju/Kafei sidequest.

Postman’s Hat

How to get it: Follow Kafei and Anju sidequest until you get the “Special Delivery to Mama”. On the night of the final day, give it to the postman and he will deliver it asap. Follow him and when he stops at the east gate, he will give this to you.
What it does - This will allow you to “talk” to mailboxes. The first time you do this, you get a heart piece, and every time afterwards, a green rupee!!

All-Night Mask

How to get it: Save the bomb shop woman at 12:00 am on the first day, then buy it at the curiosity shop on the night of the final day for 500 rupees!
What it does - When you listen to a story from Anju’s grandmother, you wont fall asleep!

Blast Mask

How to get it: Save the bomb shop woman at 12:00 am on the first day.
What it does - Press “B” and....BOOM!!! If you raise your shield before you set it off, you wont take damage.

Stone Mask

How to get it: Wear the lens of truth in Ikana canyon near the ring of rocks and present a red potion to Shiro, the soldier who doesnt stand out very well. He will give this to you.
What it does - This is probably the most useful of the non-transforming masks. Most enemies will simply ignore you when you wear it!

Great Fairy’s Mask

How to get it: After you are transformed back into Human Link, collect the fairy (again) and bring it back to the Great Fairy in north clock town. She will give this to you.
What it does - Another useful mask, the hair will shimmer if you are close to a stray fairy in dungeons! AND, fairies will actually fly towards you to make your job easier!

Deku Mask

How to get it: After you learn the song of healing, play it and you will watch a rather odd cinema where a deku spirit leaves Link’s body! The deku mask is the only remains of what was left behind.
What is does - Well....let me see, it turns you into a deku scrub. Press A to spin around to attack, hold B to charge up a bubble to shoot (this will consume magic) When standing over a deku flower, hold “A” to dive into it and wait until a puff of smoke comes out. While in the air, press “B” to drop a deku nut on the ground, stunning all enemies caught in the blast. (Note: Deku Link has a very good 360º shield. This means that you will not be able to move, but you can defend against attacks at all sides at once.)

Keaton Mask

Where you get it: Follow the Kafei and Anju story until the afternoon (1:00-6:00 pm.) On the final day. The courtesy shop owner will give this to you.
What it does: In North Clock Town, near the slide, there is a patch of grass that will shake and move when you cut it. If you wear the Keaton mask, you will be able to talk to the keaton. Answer the 5 questions it asks you to get a cool prize! (Heart Piece, then all other times, a Red Ruppee!) NOTE: The Keaton quiz can also be done on Milk road.

Bremen Mask

Where you get it: On the night of any day, the man playing the song of storms at the laundry pool will give this to you.
What it does: Using the ‘march’ command, you can make little animals think you are their leader. Go to Romani Ranch on any day, and make your way to the cucco shed. This mask when using ‘march’ will make the 10 little chicks follow you. After all 10 are lines up and marching behind you, they will turn into adults! Speak with Grog (the man sitting by the tree) and he will give you the.....

Bunny Hood

Where you get it: See above, the Grog story.
What it does: Makes you run at about 1.5 times the normal rate at which you run and gives you a longer jump.

Don Gero’s Mask

Where you get it: In the mountain village, there is a goron stuck up on a big sheet of ice, saying that he is really hungry, wanting something tough, and hard to chew on. Go to goron city and light all the torches to make the centerpiece at the top of the village spin around. Now, you must use goron rolls to break all of the pots. One yields a big hunk of meat. As a goron, take the meat/rock back to the trapped goron in the mountain village. He will jump down and give you the Don Gero’s Mask.
What it does: When you wear this, you can talk to the suspicious frogs. After all 5 frogs are in the thawed out mountain village, you can listen to them and get a heart piece! The five frogs are in the swamp, Clock Town, Mountain village, Woodfall Temple, and the Great Bay Temple.

Mask of Scents

Where you get it: After you complete the Woodfall temple, the Deku Princess prompts you to make a right upon exiting the castle. Hop on the lily pads until you can enter a new room. The Deku king’s butler will want you to keep up with him until the end of the race. If you keep up with him and make it to the final room, he will reward you with this Mask.(Note: this is a very hard race, to make it a whole lot easier wear the bunny hood while racing)
What it does: In the Woods of Mystery, while wearing this mask, you will notice small purple clouds in the forest. Use an empty bottle on these and then return the mushroom to the hag in the potion shop. Now you can buy Blue Potions!

Goron Mask

Where you get it: In goron village, after you get the lens of truth, you will notice that when you use it, there is a ghost floating near the “giant drop” before you got the lens. Talk to the ghost and he will allow you to follow him until you reach mountain village. If you don’t want to waste magic by following the ghost itself, just follow the moving shadow on the ground. When you finally reach the top of mountain village, he will want you to HEAL HIS SOUL. Play the song of healing and he will give this to you.
What it does: This mask will allow you to transform into a goron. Press B to punch, A to curl, hold A and press B to pound the ground and hold A and move to do some wild goron rolling! NOTE: Rolling at top speed will consume magic. Instrument = Bongo Drums Only Goron Link can use Powder Kegs.

Romani’s Mask

What it does: It makes you cry....and the Gorman Bros. wont attack the wagon when you ride it to town with Cremia. Other than that, its useless!

Kafei’s Mask

How to get it: Agree to help Madame Aroma to find Kafei for her. She will give this to you.
What it does - Talk to Anju after the postman visits on Day 1 to get the Kafei and Anju sidequest underway!

What it does - This transforms you into a zora!
Press B to punch
B+B+B = 3 hit karate combo
When in the water, hold A to “fly” thru the water, and use the control stick to move.
While your shield is raised, hold B to have a force field (this wastes up magic)
Also, when you are swimming in the water, hold R to raise the energy shield.
Hold B to aim your fin boomerangs (very cool)
In the water, press B to sink to the bottom of wherever you are.
You can also walk underwater.

What it does: The Gibdo mask will allow you to talk to Gibdo’s under the well. They will request various items.

Garo Mask

Where you get it: After getting Epona back, head to the Gorman ranch and race them. Beat them, and they will give you the Garo Mask.
What it does: In Ikana Canyon, when wearing this, Garo’s will attack you. They die quite easily, and when you kill them, the will give you some helpful hints on what to expect, or answers to some puzzles.

Captain’s Hat

Where you get it: In Ikana’s Graveyard, there is a big skeleton. Play the Sontana of Awakening to make him flee from you. Refer to the Boss Section for Majora’s Mask (HH Link, put in a link to that please, thanks!) to defeat it. After a long cinema, he will put out the flames surrounding the treasure chest. The Captain’s hat is in there.

Giant’s Mask

Where you get it: Stone Tower Temple. See walkthrough.
What it does: This mask will allow you to grow to about 20 times Link’s original size!
Where to use it: Sadly, the only place to use this mask is when fighting Twinmold, the boss of the Stone Tower Temple. NOTE: When you wear this mask, magic IS consumed.

Fierce Deity Mask

Where you get it: Collect all other 23 masks and in the Meadow, when you are about to beat the game, the child wearing Majora’s Mask will give this to you.
What it does: This mask turns Link into a full grown adult with an awesome Helix sword that when swung, releases a huge wave of energy that no enemy, even bosses can defend against! ROCK ON!!
