Bottle Location Guide

Ocarina of Time

In the game, there are a total of 4 Empty Bottles.

1. To obtain the first Empty Bottle, as a child, go to Kakariko Village. There will be a lady near an empty pen. Talk to her, and she’ll say she is missing her Cuccos. She then asks you to get them and return them to the pen for her. There are 8 to get. Theses are where they’re located in the village:

1. Near the entrance to the village.
2. On a ledge next to the House of Skulltula (use your Fairy Slingshot to spook it off the ledge).
3. Next to the lady.
4. Hidden inside a wooden box next to the house on your left when entering the village (roll into the box to break it open).
5. Next to the well.
6. Near the gate to Death Mountain.
7. Over a high fence (use a Cucco to glide over from the Windmill ledge)
8. Over a high fence (use a Cucco to glide over from the Windmill ledge)

By returning them all, the lady will give you the 1st Empty Bottle!

2. To obtain the second Empty Bottle, you’ll will again need to be a child. You can get this Empty Bottle after you have awaken Talon next to the castle. Then, head to Lon Lon Ranch. Enter the door to your right. Inside, there will be Talon with many Cuccos. Wake him up, then he’ll ask you if you’d like to play the Super Cuccos game. When you except the challenge, you’ll have 30 seconds to find 3 Super Cuccos out of the flock of Cuccos. When you find them, he’ll reward you with a Bottle filled with Lon Lon Milk. The milk will restore your health to a limited amount. There is two sips per Bottle. When you use it up, it becomes the 2nd Empty Bottle!

3. To receive the third Empty Bottle, you’ll yet again need to be in child form. When you are in Lake Hylia, dive to the bottom to find the Letter in a Bottle. It is a letter from Princess Ruto. Take it to King Zora and show him the letter. In return, he lets you keep the 3rd Empty Bottle!

4. To obtain the last of the Empty Bottles, you will have to become an adult. When done, there will be a total of 10 Big Poe ghosts in Hyrule Field. There will also be a Ghost Hunter just inside of Hyrule Castle between the entrance, and the Market. When you go inside, talk to the Ghost Hunter who was previously the guard inside as a child. He’ll tell you about how if you get 1,000 points on your card, you’ll be a happy man. When you return each Big Poe from Hyrule Field to him, he’ll give you 100 points. To get theses ghosts, you will need Epona and the Fairy Bow. When your ready to collect the Poes, the hard part begins. You have to be able to ride Epona and shoot arrows at the same time. Each Poe takes 2 arrows to become defeated. Once you fill up your Empty Bottles, take the Big Poes to the Ghost Hunter to receive your points. Do so until you have captured all ten of them. Here are the locations of the Big Poes:

1. In front of Hyrule Castle.
2. In the center of the bushes on the castle’s right side (your left side).
3. By the pillars nearest the entrance to Kakariko Village.
4. Next to the tree next to Lon Lon Ranch’s entrance.
5. Next to the corner of the wall (on the map, this wall is to the right of Lon Lon Ranch).
6. Next to the rock at the X-roads (on the map, this rock is below the corner of the wall).
7. By the bushes nearest the lone tree (on the map, this tree is below the rock at the X-roads. It is in the bottom right corner area of the map).
8. In the middle of the bushes and tree near the rock (on the map, this would be south-east to where Poes #7 was. It is in bottom right-hand corner of the map).
9. In the Gerudo X-roads (in the area where you enter Gerudo Valley).
10. Near the tree by the Gerudo X-roads (on the map, this tree is above #9, and also near #9).

When you return all of the Big Poes to the Ghost Hunter, he will keep his promise and reward you with the 4th Empty Bottle!

Majora's Mask

There is 6 empty bottles in the game, Majora’s Mask. Now, this is a lot of help considering you only had a maximum of 4 bottles in Ocarina of Time. This guide will list where the bottles are and how to get them.

1. The first empty bottle is fairly easy to get, after getting turned back from a deku scrub and heading out to the swamp, you will eventually get to the magic hag’s potion shop. Go inside and talk to Kotake, she will tell you that Koume (her twin sister) went out into the woods behind the shop and hasn’t come back yet. Head out into the woods behind the potion shop and talk to the monkey (I like to call her Kiki, from the old Zelda games) and she will lead you to Koume. Talk to Koume, who has been hurt, and she will tell you to get something to help her. Exit through any passage besides the one you came in and head back to the potion shop. Talk to Kotake once again to get the 1st Bottle with red potion in it. You can now take that to Koume.

2. You get the next bottle at the Goron races. To get up to that point you have to first beat the Snowhead temple. After beating the temple head back to Goron Village and go to a house/cave to the right of the village entrance. When you get there head down the passageway to the bottom. Now if I’m right this is an alternate Medigoron from Ocarina of Time. Talk to him as goron Link and he will ask you if you want to be trained in using powder kegs. You have to take it to the Goron racing and blow up the rock blocking it. Tell him you want to and head out with it, throwing it up the hill and then rolling up after it. You now have to take the keg to the trail to goron village and head to the very beginning of this area. You will see a hill, use the same through then roll technique up the hill. When you reach the top, put the keg down right next to the rock and wait for it to blow up. Once it blows, go inside with the elder’s son and talk to him inside. Say yes, you want to compete in the races, and you now have to race some of the fastest gorons in Termina. Watch out when you race with the Goron’s, they’ll do anything to make you lose. After you beat the loser Gorons, you will get your prize, the 2nd Bottle with gold dust in it. You can now take this dust and get your razor sword (if you have it) enhanced into the Guided sword. To get the razor sword, just give the kokiri sword to the guys in the mountain cottage after you unfreeze the village (or you can unfreeze the hearth with hot spring water).

3. The 3rd bottle can be gotten by doing a mini-game involving aliens, cows, a barn, and a young girl. First thing to do is pass the powder keg test....easy enough, see the previous bottle guide. Next, head to milk road on the first day with a powder keg (which can be bought at the bomb shop) and place it in front of the large boulder. Once it blows you can finally enter Romani Ranch in the first day to see what’s going on. You will find Romani, the young Ranch girl, playing with her bow in the front yard. Talk to her and commit yourself to fighting off a hord of aliens at 2:30 at night. You will play a quick, but fun mini-game and then you’re own your own until 2:30. Wait until then, and make sure you have plenty of arrows. At 2:30, THEY will come. Fight off the aliens using your arrows, if you run out, hit the box or roll through the grass for more. You have to keep them at bay until 5:30 in the morning...just make sure they do not get anywhere near the barn. After they dissapear at 5:30, talk to Romani for you prize, the 3rd Bottle!

4. The next bottle you get by playing a game with 2 beavers at their dam by the bay. Head over to the small inlet before you get to Zora’s Domain (or whatever). There should be a small little area on the map screen that is separate from the rest, head over to that area and use your hookshot to hook onto the trees that lead up to the sky. Hookshot tree after tree, going higher and higher. When you reach the highest tree, you will see an entrance, go into it. When you enter, you will find the beaver’s dam, and a nerdy little beaver standing there. Talk to him to get a race going. You don’t have to beat him, just get through all the rings in the same order as he does (which isn’t very hard). After you finish this “race,” his older brother will challenge you to a race with more rings. This one is slightly harder, but I messed up a lot and still beat it with time to spare...so it can be done fairly easily. Talk to them to get the 4th Bottle.

5. The next to last bottle....this one is located in Ikana Graveyard. Go to Ikana canyon after getting Epona. And jump over the jumps into an open area that splits 3 ways. Go down the path to the graveyard (look at the signs). At the graveyard run past the skullchildren and to the very end of the graveyard. There you will see a skull head in the ground with a sign by it that says whoever awakens me will have my prize. Awaken him using the sonata of awakening and get ready to race him. The easiest way to beat him is to use the bunny hood and chase him. It is recomended you have the Gilded sword, as it is strong enough to beat him easily. Chase him and shoot him with a few arrows to get him to stop. If any skullchildren get in your way...hehehe..get rid of them anyway possible. After a few shots with arrows, he will attack you head on. Fight him for a little while until he dies. He will then preceed to give you the captain’s mask. This mask allows you to control the demented skullchildren. The best method to use to get into the Dampe’s digging pit, is to get the skullkids to destroy the grave they are circling around on the final day. If you talk to them on the other days, you will get a song and a heart piece. They will open the grave and allow you to get into Dampe the gravekeepers basement. Talk to him to play a game, you lead him around and tell him where to dig. You will find some interesting things, but your real prize lies in a pit on a floating platform. Lead Dampe to a small brown square on the ground, it will lift him up and take him to the floating platforms. Get there before him and lead him off. Then tell him to dig in the pit. You should have awakened a poe, if not, lead him to another floating platform (there’s only one other one). Fight the poe and retrieve your prize, the 5th bottle!

6. The final bottle is a real challenge to get. You have to play the Kafei/Anju side quest. This side quest is very large and may take some time to complete. Ok, here we go....

(1) Go to the Mayor’s house on the first day as normal Link, and talk to Madame Aroma. She will give you Kafei’s mask.
(2) Run over to the stock pot inn and wait there until the mailman comes. You can listen to his conversation with Anju. After he leaves talk to Anju with kafei’s mask on and she will tell you to meet her in the kitchen of the inn at 11:30.
(3) Meet Anju at the kitchen, and she will give you a letter to Kafei.
(4) Mail the letter in any mailbox early the next morning. Wait at the Laundry pool until you see the postman coming in the middle afternoon.
(5) When he rings the bell and a boy comes out, run into his house and wait for him. He will come in and show you that he is Kafei. He will then tell you to deliver an amulet to Anju.
(6) Deliver the Amulet to Anju to finish of the 2nd day’s work.

Ok, here is where you have a choice of what to do, you can now choice 3 routes.

1) Get the Couples Mask
2) Get a Bottle
3) Get the Postman’s hat

Now, since this is a bottle walkthrough, I will tell you how to get the bottle, look for the other 2 choices, the Couple’s Mask and Postman’s hat in the upcoming mask walkthrough.

The next day, at 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. go to Kafei’s house and talk to the guy who runs the curiousity shop. He will give you an express letter to give to Kafei’s mom, Madame Aroma. At 10:00 that night, head to the milk bar in east clock town. Use the Romani’s mask to get in and talk to Madame Aroma inside. Give her the mail and she will give you some Chateau Romani and your 6th Bottle!!
